The planned protest on October 1 in Kano, organized by the Nigerian Patriotic Front Movement (NPFM), was canceled due to the reported arrest of five NPFM officials.
Last week, the NPFM had announced their intention to hold a peaceful demonstration against the current hardships faced by Nigerians.

However, following the police’s arrest of these officials, the protest could not proceed.

In anticipation of the protest, many residents stayed indoors, and numerous businesses, including markets and shops, remained closed.
Armed security personnel were deployed to various strategic locations throughout the city to maintain law and order.
Only a few vehicles were observed on the major streets.
