General Musa Buried Amid Tears After Passing Away In Abuja

The Nigerian Army on Thursday laid to rest its Director of Legal Services, Maj.-Gen. Seidu Musa, who passed away on September 23 in Abuja following a brief illness.

The burial took place at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.

At the All Saints Military Protestant Church, Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, senior officers, sympathisers, family, and friends gathered to pay tribute to the late general’s distinguished service to the nation.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, in his tribute, praised Maj.-Gen. Musa’s contributions to the military’s legal framework and his unwavering dedication to duty, stating that his efforts would always be remembered.

The COAS, represented by Maj.-Gen. Ohwohigho Akpor, Chief of Administration (Army), described the deceased as a brilliant, diligent, and resourceful officer with extensive experience and high moral standards.

Brig.-Gen. Suleiman Tilawan, Chief of Staff at Army Headquarters Garrison, delivered the funeral oration, commending Maj.-Gen. Musa for his dedication and expertise in legal matters, as well as his commitment to training and equipping legal personnel in the army.

The ceremony was attended by senior officers, both serving and retired, as well as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN), family, friends, and other sympathisers.

The event featured traditional military honors, including a bugle call, the firing of the volley, and the presentation of the national flag to the deceased’s next-of-kin.

Born on May 4, 1968, in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government of Edo State, Maj.-Gen. Musa joined the army on September 25, 1993, as part of the National Guard/Direct Regular Commission.

He held numerous key appointments throughout his career and was serving as Director of Legal Services until his death.
