DSS Replaces Tinubu’s Chief Security Officer

The Department of State Service (DSS) has withdrawn Adegboyega Fasasi from his position as Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It was learnt that Rasheed Atanda Lawal, a Deputy Director at the secret police, has been appointed as his replacement.

Sources at the Presidential Villa indicated that Fasasi, who has served as CSO since Tinubu assumed office, has been sent for professional training.

According to insiders, the Director-General of the DSS, Tosin Ajayi, requested President Tinubu’s approval for Fasasi to undertake a strategic training course.

Lawal has reportedly begun his new role at the Presidential Villa.

Those familiar with DSS operations noted that Fasasi’s removal and replacement are not unusual, as such changes are common practice within the Service.

The source added that whenever a new DG takes office at the DSS, reorganizations in various areas, particularly around the President, are expected.

“Yes, I heard he has been replaced with another officer because he is being sent on a professional training course. At least that is the reason for his removal that we know.

“Such redeployment is a common exercise, it usually happens when the DSS gets a new DG. You know they deal strictly with intelligence and operate in secrecy, the new DG will always prefer to have his own trusted men on critical beats, the Presidency and the office of the CSO to the President being number one on that list”, the source said.

There is no official confirmation of the redeployment yet.
