A Kano Upper Shari’a Court One, Kofar Kudu, is set to begin hearings on Tuesday regarding the criminal complaint against the suspended Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, and Tasleem Baba Nabegu, over allegations of adultery.
The court, presided over by Ustaz Ibrahim Sarki Yola, will address a complaint lodged by Alhaji Nasiru Buba, who suspects that Sankara and his wife, Tasleem—mother of their two children—are engaging in illicit affairs, which contravene Islamic law.
Last Thursday, the Kano State Hisbah Board arrested Sankara in an uncompleted building belonging to him on Lamido Crescent in Nassarawa GRA, where he was found with a married woman.

This incident led Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi to suspend Sankara and establish a five-member panel to investigate the matter, which has become a significant embarrassment for the state.
On Monday, the court registrar clarified that the case is scheduled for Tuesday, not today.
The complainant’s counsel, Sa’idu Muhammad Tudu Wada, represented by Barrister Haruna Magashi, stated that his client is requesting the court to order an investigation by the police or relevant agencies into Sankara’s alleged affair with Tasleem.
“Our client is urging the court to investigate the relationship between his wife and the defendant over the alleged commission of a crime for criminal prosecution or otherwise”, Magashi said.
Danladi Sankara’s counsel, Shehu Suleiman, expressed that his client was taken aback upon seeing reports on social media and in the electronic media claiming he had been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board for allegedly having an illicit affair with Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the wife of the complainant, Nasiru Buba.
“It is important for journalists and the public to note that this is a matter of ‘direct criminal complaint’ against our client, not a matter instituted by the Kano State Hisbah Board, as per the records of the court and what we know. So this is the direct criminal complaint against our client and the complainant’s wife,” said Barrister Suleiman.
The lawyer stated that his client is completely innocent and is looking forward to appearing in court to defend his reputation.
