In January, President Tinubu made notable efforts to cut government spending by trimming his foreign trip entourage from 50 to 20 officials. For domestic travel, he reduced the number of accompanying officials to 25.

He also scaled back the Vice President’s entourage, limiting it to five officials for international trips and 15 for local ones.

In a directive issued today, President Tinubu further instructed all ministers and agency heads to limit their security personnel to a maximum of five, consisting of four police officers and one officer from the Department of State Services (DSS).

He said: “No additional security personnel will be assigned, he ordered.”

The president directed the National Security Adviser to coordinate with military, paramilitary, and security agencies to assess an appropriate reduction in the deployment of vehicles and personnel.

“All affected officials are expected to comply with these new measures immediately, underscoring the urgency and seriousness of these changes,” the statement added.
