Basketball icon LeBron James publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her presidential campaign Thursday evening, stating that “the choice is clear” just days before Election Day.
James shared a video on X that highlighted offensive comments made by former President Donald Trump over the years.
“What are we even talking about here??” he wrote. “When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!”
The video included clips of Trump’s divisive rhetoric, such as his warning that the nation could “end up like Detroit” if Harris is elected and his claim that undocumented immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.” It concluded with a message: “Hate takes us back.”

James’ endorsement is one of many high-profile celebrity endorsements for Harris, who has received public support from Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
James has a history of backing Democratic candidates, including his endorsement of Hillary Clinton in 2016, and has been a vocal critic of Trump, famously calling him a “bum” after the then-president uninvited Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors from visiting the White House.
In 2020, when Trump criticized athletes taking a knee during the national anthem, James urged voters to “see what leadership that we have at the top of our country” and to turn out at the polls.

During the last presidential election, James took an active role, co-founding More Than A Vote, a group dedicated to fighting voter suppression.
The organization helped recruit poll workers in predominantly Black districts and assisted Floridians with fees related to felony convictions, enabling them to register to vote.
After President Joe Biden’s 2020 win, More Than A Vote focused on GOP-led voter restriction bills and continued mobilizing Black voters for off-year and local elections.
In a final campaign push, both the Harris and Trump teams are tapping into celebrity endorsements.
Retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre joined Trump at a Wisconsin rally on Wednesday, while Harris will be joined by rappers Cardi B, GloRilla, and Flo Milli at a rally in Milwaukee on Friday.
