The All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading in all 13 LGAs declared so far, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailing in second place.
Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi, the collation officer, explained that the break is necessary to allow time for the arrival of results from the remaining LGAs.
He stated: “We still have five more local governments to announce, but we are taking a recess now until 5 a.m. to receive results from Akure North, Okitipupa, Odigbo, Ilaje, and Ese Odo. We will resume at 5 a.m. to declare these results.”
The 13 LGAs declared thus far include: Ifedore, Ondo East, Ileoluji Oke-Igbo, Idanre, Irele, Akoko South West, Owo, Ondo West, Akoko South East, Akoko North West, Ose, Akoko North East, and Akure South.
The five remaining LGAs are Ilaje, Odigbo, Okitipupa, Akure North, and Ese Odo.
In the results already declared, only one LGA, Idanre, has raised concerns.
The PDP agent in Idanre accused the APC of vote-buying, ballot box snatching, and the absence of elections in some areas, and urged the returning officer to reject the results from that LGA.
