This was revealed by the state’s Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, during a meeting with principals and supervisors identified by WAEC for their involvement in these malpractices.
In addition, the commissioner announced that 14 supervisors in the state have been blacklisted for their participation in different forms of malpractice during the 2023/2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Mr. Jones affirmed the government’s commitment to holding accountable school principals, teachers, and supervisors found to have engaged in or facilitated examination malpractices. He stressed that such actions remain criminal and would be treated as such under the law.
He further explained that, moving forward, offenders would be prosecuted in line with the Kogi State Education Law and Other Matters Connected Therewith, 2020.
A committee, led by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, will be established to investigate individuals implicated by WAEC.
The commissioner issued a stern warning that anyone found guilty would face prosecution in a court of law.
“Kogi State has invested so much in Education and will no longer tolerate the attitude of the ‘bad eggs’ drawing back the gains already made in education sector,” Mr Jones said.
