The Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) was established in 1999 to further strengthen the bond of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The inaugural session at the Heads of State level took place in Pretoria in October 2019.

The BNC serves as a platform for maintaining high-level dialogue and fostering collaboration in key areas such as diplomacy, economy, trade, security, and other areas of mutual interest.

This year’s meeting, according to Onanuga, holds particular significance as it marks the 25th anniversary of the Commission, underscoring the enduring partnership between Nigeria and South Africa.

Onanuga also noted that President Tinubu will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including state governors, ministers, and senior government officials.

After the BNC meeting, he will return to Nigeria, the statement confirmed.

Since Wednesday, President Tinubu has been on a state visit to France.

He met with President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, where several agreements were signed between the two countries.
