The Senate leadership has instructed its Committee on Finance to halt further progress on the proposed tax bill until after a high-level meeting with the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) takes place.
Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy Senate President, made the announcement during today’s plenary session, revealing that a special committee has been formed to resolve the contentious issues within the bill.
The meeting is set for tomorrow, Thursday, December 5th.
This decision follows extensive discussions among lawmakers aimed at addressing disagreements over critical provisions in the bill, which have generated debate among stakeholders in recent days.
Furthermore, the Senate leadership has announced plans to convene a special meeting at the National Assembly, chaired by the Minority Leader, to resolve all areas of conflict.
