The Army Council approved the promotion of 35 Brigadier Generals and 73 Colonels on Thursday.
In a statement released on Friday by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, it was confirmed that the promoted Brigadier Generals were elevated to the rank of Major General, while the Colonels were promoted to Brigadier General.

Among those promoted to Major General are: Brigadier General A. Garba, Acting Provost Marshal Nigerian Army; Brigadier General U.M. Alkali, Deputy Chief of Administration, Directorate of Veteran Affairs (Army); Brigadier General A.G.L. Haruna, Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, North East Operation HADIN KAI; Brigadier General I.A. Ajose, Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Sector 2, North West Operation FANSAN YAMA; Brigadier General N.B. Jimoh, Office of the Chief of Army Staff Department of Procurement; Col. O.C. Ameni, 103 Division Equipment Support; Col. O.U. Okwuosa, 2 Division Medical Hospital and Services; Col. A.O. Odubiyi, Armed Forces Command and Staff College; and Col. N.E. Udofia, Headquarters Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, among others.
Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff, congratulated the newly promoted officers and their families.
He urged them to redouble their efforts to prove their worth and the confidence placed in them. He further advised the promoted officers to lead by example, embrace innovative ideas, and adopt “out of the box” solutions to address the nation’s contemporary security challenges.
He also reminded them to remain loyal to their oath of allegiance and committed to defending Nigeria while upholding the nation’s constitution.
