FG Declares Dates For Christmas, New Year Holidays

The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Monday and signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo took the opportunity to extend festive greetings to all Nigerians, urging citizens to embrace the season’s spirit of love, peace, and unity.

“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” Tunji-Ojo said.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening family and community ties, believing that fostering harmony at the local level is key to national development.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Tunji-Ojo assured Nigerians, saying, “The Federal Government is dedicated to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity throughout the country.”

He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would steer the nation toward greater prosperity by 2025.
