The statement reads, “I wish to inform the general public that His Excellency Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in the spirit of the yuletide, has approved the sum of N100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in Rivers State, to enable them to have a fulfilled Christmas celebration.

“The 2024 Christmas bonus will be given to workers in the various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, as well as pensioners in both the civil and public services.

“His Excellency approved this on Monday, 23 December 2024, and has directed its immediate implementation to ensure civil servants have a wonderful yuletide celebration.”

Nweke also mentioned that this is the second time during Governor Fubara’s administration that civil servants will receive a Christmas bonus of N100,000, which exceeds the national minimum wage. Additionally, this is the first time pensioners are being included in the bonus distribution.

“The N100,000 Christmas bonus for both civil and public servants, as well as pensioners, is part of Governor Fubara’s ‘Rivers First’ initiative, aimed at securing the well-being and happiness of Rivers people across various sectors of the economy,” the statement stated.
