Dead Man Walking – Military Gives Fresh Update On Bello Turji

The Military High Command has labeled the infamous bandit and terrorist leader, Bello Turji, as a “dead man walking.”

Turji, a notorious figure in the region, leads a violent campaign in north-western Nigeria, particularly in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Niger states.

During a briefing on the military’s operations for 2024, held on Tuesday in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, made the statement.

He emphasized that it is crucial to understand that terrorists thrive on conflict and must be eradicated to restore peace.

Buba further noted that the military had been intensifying its operations against terrorist hideouts, strongholds, and enclaves, aiming to accelerate the defeat of the insurgents and bring a swift end to the ongoing conflict.

“During the course of the year, troops eliminated thousands of terrorists and also their commanders and combatants among others.

“We are also sure that similar fate awaits those parading themselves as terror leaders and commanders today.

“Take it from me, he is merely a dead man walking, as he will soon follow suit with many others that have been eliminated during the course of the year.

“To refresh your memory, I will reveal out some of the names of notable terrorist leaders that we have taken out since January this year.

“These include: Halilu Sububu, Dutse Mainasara Idda, Mallam Saleh Umaru, Mohammed Amadu, Abubakar Musa, Adamu Tanko Ibrahim, Yellow Dogon Rakumi, Isiya Boderi and Alhaji Baldu.

“Others are: Usman Modi Modi, Kachalla Halilu, Kachalla Tukur, Amir Ibrahim Bukar, Saidu Hassan Yellow, Buba Kachalla Bukar, Bakura Jega, Abba Tukur amongst others,’’ he said.

Buba stated that the military would not hesitate to use overwhelming force to defend the country against terrorist attacks, ensuring continued tangible benefits for all Nigerians.

He added that numerous terrorist leaders, fighters, and their families had surrendered due to the intensified operations carried out by the troops.
