The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has issued a stern warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to reconsider his leadership approach or face potential removal by the Nigerian people in the 2027 elections.
The warning was delivered by Hashimu Dungurawa, Chairman of the NNPP in Kano State, during a press conference in Kano on Thursday.
Dungurawa criticized the economic reforms implemented by Tinubu’s administration, stating that they have failed to yield positive results and are, in fact, exacerbating the hardships faced by Nigerians.
He also pointed to the tax reform bills currently before the National Assembly, advising the President to abandon the policy, which he believes will not be beneficial for the country.
“This tax reform bills are nothing but to inflict more hardship on Nigerians.
“This is the President that at the venue of his swearing-in arbitrarily announced the removal of fuel subsidy that Nigerians are yet to recover from.
“He is now planning to introduce a tax law that would inflict another hardship on us. All his policies are anti-masses.
“The president should have a listening ear. He should listen to Nigerians’ outcry and disapprovals. Nigerians are yearning and crying out about this tax reform.
“You better shelve this policy. You better change or we change you,” he warned.
The NNPP chairman further accused the presidency of instigating crises within opposition parties to establish dominance over all 36 states of the federation.
However, Mr. Dungurawa emphasized that the NNPP was gaining momentum nationwide, having established a strong presence and structures in every state across the country.
“We have offices at all the 36 states. We are now planning to establish structures at all the polling units across the nation.
“NNPP is out for victory 2027. The ongoing court case against our party is nothing to worry about because it has not affected our structure and resolve to win elections. We are not perturbed at all,” Mr Dungurawa added.
