Omoleye Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, has criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the same election, following Obi’s recent visit to former military president Gen. Ibrahim Babangida at his residence in Minna, Niger State.
Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, announced the visit on his X handle on Thursday, stating that they discussed matters of national importance during their meeting.

Obi who also informed that he had visited Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi to commiserate with him over the recent deaths of his mother and son, had written: “After leaving Jigawa State, I traveled to Minna, Niger State, to visit a father figure, elder statesman, and leader, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at his residence. It was an opportunity to wish him a Happy New Year and exchange thoughts on national matters.
“General Babangida’s wisdom and insights remain invaluable, and I always cherish the opportunity to meet him and benefit from his guidance and advice.”
However, Sowore has criticized Obi’s visit to IBB, arguing that the LP leader’s decision to meet with a man he claims ruined Nigeria during his time in power was misguided.
In a post on his X handle @YeleSowore on Friday, the activist said: “@peterobi how on earth could someone be returning from paying homage to Ex- Nigerian-ruiner, Ibrahim Babangida and then give his life to save Nigeria? Jokers!”, Sowore wrote.
