Segun Reacts As Report Claims He Has Been Re-Arrested For Stealing TV In Osun After Adeleke Granted Him State Pardon [VIDEO]

Segun Olowookere, who was arrested at the age of 17 in 2010 for allegedly stealing a fowl and sentenced to death and later released from prison after serving 14 years in detention has reacted to a post online claiming he has been re-arrested after committing another crime.

Recall that his release was made possible by clemency granted by the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke after his case garnered widespread attention.

A report surfaced this week of an ex-convict who was arrested for stealing TV in osun after Governor Adeleke granted him pardon.

The Ex Convict re-arrested was Omisakin Sunday and not Segun Olowookere.

Sunday was also one of the convicts recently granted clemency by Adeleke and has been remanded in correctional custody for allegedly stealing a plasma television valued at N600,000.

Governor Adeleke had granted clemency to 53 convicts of various offenses late last year, including Omisakin Sunday, who received an outright pardon.

However, Sunday was brought before Magistrate Adeyeba Adekanmi of the Osogbo Magistrate Court on charges of burglary and stealing a plasma television belonging to one Damilare Shittu in the Iludun area of Osogbo.

The charges are punishable under sections 411(1)(2) and 390(9) of the state criminal code.

Sunday pleaded not guilty to the charges, but the prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye, opposed his bail application, citing the fact that Sunday had been serving a jail term before receiving the Governor’s clemency.

The prosecutor further argued that Sunday’s first action after his pardon was to commit another crime, urging the court to deny bail.

Magistrate Adeyeba ruled against granting bail and ordered that Sunday be remanded in correctional custody until February for further proceedings.

However a report emerged which used the photos of Segun Olowookere to depict the man who was arrested for stealing TV after granted pardon by Adeleke h

Segun has now reacted to the report.
