There was chaos at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja on Wednesday when supporters of Samuel Anyanwu, the embattled National Secretary, and Udeh Okoye, who also claims the position, clashed during the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting.
The meeting, chaired by Adolphus Wabara, was attended by prominent party figures including acting national chairman Umar Damagun, former Niger governor Babangida Aliyu, former Kaduna governor Ahmed Markafi, and former Jigawa governor Sule Lamido.

The BoT, known as the party’s conscience, had called the meeting to address the ongoing dispute over the national secretary position, which has divided the PDP National Working Committee into two factions.
However, the meeting was interrupted when supporters from both sides violently clashed over the unresolved issue.
In response, security around the Wadata Plaza has been heightened, with additional police and Department of State Services officers present. Soldiers and officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were also seen at the location.
