On Thursday, the Senate confirmed three nominees put forward by President Bola Tinubu for positions as National Electoral Commissioners and Resident Electoral Commissioner.
The confirmation followed the presentation and adoption of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters’ report during plenary.
The confirmed nominees include Tukur Abdulrazaq for National Electoral Commissioner, representing the North-west; Sunday Aja for National Electoral Commissioner, representing the South-east; and Saseyib Ibeyemi for Resident Electoral Commissioner, representing Ondo State.

Committee Chairperson Alli Sharafadeen, while presenting the report, stated that the three nominees were experienced electoral managers deemed suitable for the positions.
He also noted that there were no petitions against the nominees, recommending their confirmation.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin (APC-Kano), who presided over the plenary after the confirmation, praised the committee for its role in the process and encouraged the confirmed individuals to perform their electoral duties to the best of their abilities.
