How Court Sent Professor To Jail For Falsifying Election Results [VIDEO]

The High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has sentenced Professor Ignatius Uduk to three years in prison for electoral fraud.

Uduk was charged with three offenses, including abandoning his duties and falsifying scores on Form EC BE (II) during the State House of Assembly election on March 10, 2019, at the INEC office in Afaha Ikot Ebak.

He was also charged with announcing and publishing false election results and making false statements under oath at the start of the Election Petition Tribunal.

In his ruling on Wednesday, Justice Bassey Nkanang acquitted Uduk of the first charge but convicted him on the second and third charges, sentencing him to three years in prison for each, to be served concurrently.

Uduk, who was the Collation/Returning Officer for the Essien Udim State Constituency during the 2019 elections, was first arraigned by INEC on December 9, 2020.

He is a Professor of Human Kinetics at the University of Uyo.
