Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has departed Sokoto State for Kebbi State to lead the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign rally, just hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja voided his nomination as the party’s 2027 presidential candidate.

Video footage posted on social media platform X showed the former Vice President traveling by road in a high-profile convoy from Sokoto toward Kebbi to proceed with scheduled campaign engagements despite the judicial setback.

Earlier on Thursday, Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja delivered a judgment invalidating the internal party processes that led to Atiku’s emergence as the ADC flagbearer for the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

In the ruling, Justice Lifu also nullified the appointments of former Senate President David Mark as National Chairman and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, alongside other members of the party’s national executive caretaker committee.

The court upheld a legal challenge brought by Nafiu Bala Gombe, a Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, who contested the legality of the committee’s formation and leadership takeover.

Consequently, the court struck down all executive decisions and actions taken by the David Mark-led leadership, effectively canceling the nominations of all electoral candidates submitted by the party for the 2027 general elections.
