Tinubu Sends Special Message To El-Rufai

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on his 65th birthday, recognizing him as an “administrator, scholar, and politician” celebrated for his “resourcefulness and brilliance.”

In a statement released on Sunday, Tinubu highlighted El-Rufai’s pivotal role as a founding member of the All Progressives Congress and acknowledged his significant contributions to the party’s victories in three consecutive elections.

The statement was issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), on February 16, 2025.

“The President acknowledges Mallam El-Rufai’s role in the dialogues leading up to the formation of the APC and his contributions to the success of the party in the three consecutive elections of 2015, 2019, and 2023,” the statement read.

Tinubu also praised the former minister for his “efforts in advancing democracy, his dedicated service to the nation, and his mentorship of younger generations.”

El-Rufai, who held positions as Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory between 2003 and 2007, served as governor of Kaduna State for eight years.

The President wished him “good health and strength for continued service to the nation.”
