Just two weeks after Senator Ned Nwoko switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), another prominent PDP member from Aniocha North Local Government Area in Delta State, Dr. Chris Okobah, has followed suit.

On Sunday, Okobah, a founding member of the PDP, officially joined the APC, accompanied by thousands of supporters, including the former PDP treasurer in the area, Mr. Justus Elue.

The defection took place at Ward 2, Onicha Ugbo in Aniocha North. Okobah explained that his decision to join the APC was aimed at aligning with the party’s vision to bring development and progress to the Onicha-Ugbo community and address the growing issue of unemployment among local youth.

He said, “I believe that APC will bring unprecedented dividends of democracy to the Onicha-Ugbo community; it is a new dawn for the community because the interest of the people would be brought to the front burner of conversation at the highest level.

“I want to charge the people of the community to close ranks and move en masse to the APC and take advantage of the different opportunities being provided by the Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Senator Ned Nwoko to empower themselves economically.

The Aniocha North APC Chairman, Mr. Mathew Chinyere, welcomed Dr. Okobah and his supporters into the APC, describing his defection as a positive sign. He noted that Dr. Okobah’s wealth of experience would be valuable in the party’s operations. Chinyere expressed optimism about the party’s future and encouraged progressives to focus on ensuring the APC’s victory across all levels of governance in 2027.

The APC ward chairman, Mr. Frank Asimoye, congratulated Dr. Okobah on his thoughtful decision to join the party, emphasizing that his membership, along with his supporters, would significantly strengthen the party’s position in the region and in Delta North for future elections.

Ogbueshi Sualieze Eluaka, the APC candidate for the Oshimili South House of Assembly in 2023, praised Dr. Okobah as a political powerhouse and grassroots organizer.

Eluaka highlighted that Okobah’s political history and reputation would greatly benefit the APC.

He further stated that the growing number of defections to the party was a clear sign of things to come and urged APC supporters statewide to capitalize on this momentum to help secure the party’s success.
