4 NASS Members Suspended

The Kano chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has suspended four of its National Assembly members over alleged anti-party activities.

State party chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, announced the suspension during a press briefing on Monday in Kano.

The affected lawmakers represent Kano South, Rano/Kibiya, Dala Federal, and Rogo/Karaye Federal Constituencies.

They are Kawu Sumaila, Ali Gini, Sani Rogo, and Kabiru Rurum.

Dungurawa accused them of acting against the party’s principles and interests despite being elected on the NNPP platform. He noted that they received complementary tickets during the elections but have since distanced themselves from party activities.

He specifically pointed to an incident where Sumaila inaugurated projects at his university in Sumaila without involving party members, citing it as an example of their anti-party behavior.

Dungurawa stated that a committee would be established to investigate the matter thoroughly. However, he emphasized that there was still room for reconciliation, and if their relationship with the party improved, they could be reinstated.

The suspension comes amid reports of internal crisis within the NNPP in Kano, with some members allegedly feeling sidelined by the party’s leadership.
