FG Told To Release LG Allocations To Reinstated Chairmen In Osun

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged the Federal Government to disburse monthly allocations to the reinstated APC-elected local government chairmen in Osun State, following a court ruling.

In a statement issued on Tuesday after speaking with journalists in Osogbo, the state capital, Oyintiloye reiterated his appeal, emphasizing that the state government would eventually be held accountable for the funds spent on the recently conducted local government election.

He described the expenditure as a misuse of taxpayers’ money.

“I want to appeal to the Federal Government to start releasing the monthly allocation to the APC-reinstated council chairmen in the state from this month.

“The chairmen were unable to work since 2022 when they were sacked, but now that the Court of Appeal has reinstated them, the allocation should be released to them.

“This is the time for people at the grassroots to feel the impact of government, which has been neglected since 2022,” the APC chieftain appealed.

The former lawmaker also lauded the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his professionalism in managing security issues in the state.

“I commend the Inspector-General of Police for maintaining peace in the state and for his professional approach in addressing security challenges,” he stated.

He also applauded the reinstated council chairmen for resuming duty despite alleged intimidation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and encouraged local government staff to return to work.

“There is sufficient security in place to ensure they can perform their duties as expected,” he assured.

Oyintiloye stressed that their return to office would allow the chairmen to focus on delivering long-awaited democratic benefits to the grassroots.
