Senate Committee Recommends Six-Month Suspension For Natasha

The Senate is considering a six-month suspension for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following findings by the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct, which accused her of breaching Senate rules.

The committee’s recommendation, presented by its Chairman Senator Neda Imasuen, suggests that the suspension would begin on March 6, 2025.

As part of the suspension, it was recommended that her office be sealed, and she would be prohibited from entering the National Assembly premises.

Additionally, her salary, along with that of her legislative aides, would be withheld.

The committee also proposed that during her suspension, she be barred from representing Nigeria in any official capacity as one of the country’s senators. It suggested that the Kogi Central lawmaker might need to submit a written apology for the Senate to reconsider her suspension.

The Senate is set to vote on the recommendation, and if approved, it would revoke all of Senator Natasha’s legislative privileges for the duration of her suspension.
