The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, has introduced a mobile USSD verification feature via Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, enabling citizens to check their eligibility and claim the ₦50,000 National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) grant.
The targeted financial intervention aims to cushion vulnerable households against ongoing inflationary pressures and the rising cost of living.
Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, serving as an official disbursement partner for the scheme, confirmed that account holders can verify their selection status and process payouts instantly via USSD shortcodes.
The digital channel allows qualified beneficiaries to accept funds straight into their Moniepoint accounts without requiring internet access or physical visits to banking halls.
How To Check Eligibility And Receive FG’s ₦50,000 Via Moniepoint
1. Dial the USSD shortcode: Open your mobile phone dialer and dial *5573*27# using the phone number linked to your registered Moniepoint account.
2. Navigate the prompts: Follow the automated screen instructions to check your eligibility status under the NERSI scheme.
3. Confirm payment acceptance: If shortlisted, select the option to accept the ₦50,000 intervention grant on your screen.
4. Receive instant credit: Upon confirmation, the ₦50,000 grant will be deposited directly into your Moniepoint account balance.
Is The ₦50,000 NERSI Grant Completely Free?
Moniepoint clarified that eligible candidates are not required to pay any registration, administrative, or processing fees to clear or receive their funds.
Account holders are strongly advised to remain vigilant against scammers demanding upfront payments, processing fees, or sensitive banking details such as PINs and OTPs to clear disbursements.
The bank noted that the ₦50,000 payout is strictly restricted to pre-selected beneficiaries under the government database and does not apply automatically to all Moniepoint account holders.
Understanding The Federal Government’s NERSI Scheme
The National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) is a social safety net initiative launched by the Federal Government to provide direct cash transfers to lower-income households across the country.
The program serves as part of broader macroeconomic stabilization measures intended to mitigate economic hardship through targeted financial support.
By partnering with licensed financial institutions like Moniepoint, the government aims to ensure transparent, rapid, and direct fund transfers to verified target populations.
