In line with its commitment to cleansing the nation’s financial sector and providing the public with reliable information about illegal Ponzi scheme operators, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued an alert about 58 companies posing as legitimate investment entities and defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard-earned money.
These companies are not registered with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Both regulatory bodies, in separate communications with the EFCC, have confirmed that they are not listed with them.
The EFCC has taken legal action against many of these companies, with five already convicted.
Another five have pleaded guilty and are awaiting a review of the facts, while the remaining companies are still pending arraignment.
