Rivers SSG Issues Strong Warning Concerning Fubara Amid Criticism From Wike, Others

Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Rivers State Secretary to the Government (SSG), has stated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s preference for calm and peaceful governance should not be misinterpreted as a sign of weakness.

This statement comes amidst criticism from political opponents, notably the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

These critics have specifically targeted Danagogo’s actions, particularly his signing of a letter inviting lawmakers to a meeting with the Governor, which Wike dismissed as “useless.”

Speaking at the commissioning of Okrika Grammar School, Danagogo defended his actions, stating that it is within his official duties as SSG to issue such invitations for informal meetings.

He clarified that this is not an overstepping of his role, and he performed similar duties during Wike’s tenure as Governor.

Danagogo emphasized that his response was intended to correct misrepresentations and set the record straight, not to engage in political disputes.

He praised Governor Fubara for his measured response to provocations, such as the locking of the state assembly complex, which prevented him from presenting the budget.

He suggested that other governors might have reacted more aggressively, but Fubara chose to maintain peace.

Danagogo reassured the people of Rivers State that the government remains dedicated to their well-being and economic stability. He explained that Governor Fubara’s reluctance to escalate tensions stems from his desire to avoid policies that could harm the citizens’ livelihoods.
