Acknowledging the delay in salary payments, Ibas assured workers that the released allocations would facilitate prompt salary disbursement.

However, he also stressed the importance of financial accountability, directing local governments to submit their wage bills for scrutiny.

He warned against financial recklessness and pledged to take action against any mismanagement.

Ibas, a retired vice admiral, called for collaboration with traditional rulers and security agencies to enhance security at the local level.

Clifford Paul, President of NULGE and Administrator of Port Harcourt Local Government Area, praised the Sole Administrator’s appointment and pledged support for peace and stability.

He highlighted the two-month salary arrears owed to local government workers and expressed optimism following the release of the withheld allocations.

He also urged stakeholders to use this opportunity to rebuild trust and unity in the state.
