Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the head of the NYSC, has confirmed that former corps members will be paid the back pay resulting from the recently increased allowance of N77,000.
He made this announcement at a workshop in Abuja, explaining that the new allowance, which began being paid in March, will be retroactively applied to those who finished their service after President Tinubu’s minimum wage law was passed eight months prior.

“The government is conscious of its promise, and within the budgetary provision, it will handle the arrears. Once funds are released to us, we will pay them,” Nafiu said.
He guaranteed that those who recently completed their NYSC service would also receive the owed back pay.
“Even those who have completed their service will benefit. Once we receive the necessary funds, we will credit them-we have their bank details. Nigerians should not worry; the government is responsible and responsive to their needs,” he added
