The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has refuted social media reports claiming he approved the recruitment of 10,000 people into the state civil service, labeling them as false and misleading.
This clarification was made in a statement released on Thursday in Port Harcourt by Dr. Inyingi Brown, the acting Head of the Rivers State Civil Service.
Brown described the widespread claim as fake and urged the public to disregard it.

According to the statement, the false announcement, which stated that the administrator had authorized the mass hiring and that an application portal would open by midnight on Sunday, April 13, 2025, was falsely attributed to the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibibia Worika.
The statement emphasized, “We wish to categorically inform the people of Rivers State and the general public to ignore the fake announcement.”
It further stated that “Appropriate information will be released by the Rivers State Civil Service Commission when it falls due.”
Brown reiterated that any official announcements regarding civil service employment would be communicated directly by the relevant state government bodies and not through unverified online sources.
