Liverpool, who had already clinched the league title, started strongly, scoring two goals in quick succession.

Despite looking headed for a significant loss, Arsenal showed resilience in the second half.

Gabriel Martinelli headed in a cross from Leandro Trossard in the 47th minute, and then Merino equalized, following up after Alisson saved Martin Odegaard’s shot onto the bar.

However, Merino was later sent off for a second yellow card after a late tackle near the Arsenal penalty area, leaving the visitors with ten men for the final ten minutes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold made his first appearance for Liverpool since announcing his departure at the end of the season and was met with boos from some fans upon entering as a substitute.

He nearly silenced the critics with a late free-kick that went just wide.

The match concluded with late drama as Robertson had a potential winning goal disallowed due to a foul by Ibrahima Konate in the build-up.

The draw leaves Liverpool with a comfortable 15-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, who still maintain control of their chances to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
