The suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that he is not desperate to return to his position.
Fubara made this statement on Sunday at a service of songs held in Port Harcourt by the Rivers Elders Forum in honor of the late elder statesman, Edwin Clark.
The embattled governor was responding to several speakers at the event who addressed him as “Governor” and strongly criticized his suspension, demanding its immediate reversal.

However, Fubara distanced himself from these remarks, characterizing them as personal opinions that were unlikely to foster peace.
“Not everything is by oshogbe,” he cautioned, suggesting his preference for a more strategic and less confrontational approach to the ongoing political crisis. “Do you even know if I want to go back there? My spirit has already left there,” he added.
Fubara further warned that some actions taken by his supporters, despite being well-intentioned, had only worsened his situation.
He urged attendees to focus on honoring Edwin Clark’s selfless advocacy for the Niger Delta region rather than dwelling on political matters.
