The management of Ibom Air has denied that the airline was responsible for releasing the widely circulated video that showed a passenger, Comfort Emmanson, being restrained and dragged off a flight.
In an interview with TVC News on Monday, Aniekan Essienette, Ibom Air’s Group Manager of Marketing and Communications, stated that while the video was recorded on the plane, it was not filmed or shared by the airline’s staff.
She explained, “The video was recorded on the plane, but there were several people on board who were not Ibom Air employees. Anyone could have taken it.”

She added: “I can tell you categorically that Ibom Air did not release the video. We do not condone such indecent exposure, and it is unfortunate that the video has gone viral.”
Essienette reiterated that the incident occurred on August 10 after Emmanson refused to comply with safety regulations to switch off her electronic device.
The crew was forced to restrain her after she resisted disembarking, with Essienette noting, “Our crew had to restrain her to ensure security could escort her off the plane.”

Despite the public outrage, she defended the airline’s position, stating, “Ibom Air values our customers and prides itself on reliability and excellent service. We remain committed to these principles.”
She also urged passengers to respect aviation regulations, emphasizing that “most people obey the rule to switch off devices. The airline environment is controlled, and safety must come first.”
However, Ibom Air has not yet confirmed if it will investigate the source of the video leak.
