NNPP Expels Abdulmumin Jibrin

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has announced the expulsion of Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, a member of the House of Representatives, accusing him of “anti-party activities” and failing to meet his “financial obligations.”

The announcement came a day after Jibrin had said it wouldn’t be a surprise if he left the party, adding that he is “old enough to take a stand independently what is best for him politically.”

The Chairman of the NNPP in Kano, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, told journalists that Jibrin’s expulsion was a result of his “repeated media outbursts” against the party.

Dungurawa called Jibrin a “weak politician” and said his political success was not his own.

He stated, “If he was truly strong politically, he would have won his election under the APC, but he failed. It was when he joined NNPP through Kwankwasiyya that he became a House of Reps member. Now he is deceiving himself thinking he is strong.”

Dungurawa said that a reconciliation committee was initially formed to engage with Jibrin, but a subsequent media appearance showed he had “crossed the line.”

The chairman added, “Instead of dialogue, he went further to work against our interest, openly declaring loyalty outside the party. That is why we expelled him. He has no value to add.”

He also accused Jibrin of failing to pay mandatory party dues and vowed that the NNPP would take legal action.

Dungurawa said, “We will drag him to court to recover what he owes the party. It is a constitutional requirement for every member to pay dues, but he has consistently failed to do so.”

On the possibility of Jibrin returning to the APC, Dungurawa maintained that it would not affect the NNPP’s strength, stating that “politics is about groups and coalitions.”
