Sowore Arrested At Court In Abuja [VIDEO]

Human rights activist and former Presidential Candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has been arrested at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Sowore had recently led the ‘#FreeNnamdiKanuProtest’ in Abuja on Monday but had “fled when the police arrested other protesters.”

He later announced on social media that 13 protesters, including “Nnamdi Kanu’s brother and lawyer,” had been arrested.

The police had previously warned those planning to protest for the release of the detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to avoid restricted parts of the nation’s capital, but the activist maintained that protesting was his right.

Before his arrest, a video showed Sowore at the Federal High Court in Abuja concerning Kanu’s case.

He had posted: “Today, I met with Kanu Agabi, the lead lawyer for Kanu Nnandi, at the Federal High Court, and he disclosed that his team will be withdrawing from the case, leaving Nnamdi Kanu to continue his trial without representation. He was s sure that it was completely political.”

As Sowore was leaving the court premises, a police team accosted him and asked him to accompany them to the station.

After some “back and forth,” the activist and politician complied.
