President Bola Tinubu has nominated Ikechukwu Ugwuegede to serve as the South-East representative on the board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
Ugwuegede is a lawyer and politician who previously held the position of Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA) from 2011 to 2015.
He also contested for the Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives during the 2019 general election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This latest nomination from the President comes weeks after his initial list of NCC board nominees sparked “criticism for lacking a representative from the South-East region.”
The inclusion of Ugwuegede was formally announced by President Tinubu in a new letter addressed to and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary session.
The letter expressed the President’s hope for a swift confirmation, stating in part: “While it is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner, please accept, distinguished senators and distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration and personal regards.”
