Tinubu’s 65 Ambassadorial Nominees [FULL LIST]

President Bola Tinubu has formally nominated several prominent figures, including two former military chiefs, as non-career ambassadors, transmitting the list to the Senate for confirmation.

The key nominees include Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State and former Chief of Naval Staff, and Abdulrahman Dambazau, the former Minister of Interior and former Chief of Army Staff.

Also named were Ita Enang, a former Senator, and Chioma Ohakim, the former First Lady of Imo State.

In addition to these non-career nominees, the President transmitted a list of 34 career ambassadors for Senate confirmation.

The nominations for both the career and non-career ambassadors were made in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, specifically Section 171(1), (2)(c), and (4), which “governs such appointments.”

The total list of 65 nominees—comprising 34 Career Ambassadors and 31 Non-Career Ambassadors—was listed state-by-state as follows:

Senate President Godswill Akpabio referred all the names, both career and non-career, to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, with a directive for the committee to “report back within one week.”
