Tinubu Posts Four Ambassador-Designates To France, US, UK, Turkey

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the deployment of four ambassador-designates to represent Nigeria in France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey.

The decision was made public on Thursday through a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the spokesperson, โ€œThe President has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates out of the 68 confirmed by the Senate last December.โ€

Onanuga confirmed that โ€œThe posting of Ambassador Ayodele Oke to France and Colonel Lateef Are to the United States has been confirmed by the President.โ€

Furthermore, the President designated Ambassador Amin Dalhatu as the representative for the United Kingdom. Onanuga noted that โ€œAmbassador Amin Dalhatu, former Nigerian ambassador to South Korea, has been posted as the high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.โ€

The fourth appointment is Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, a โ€œformer governor of Kebbi State,โ€ who has been named the โ€œambassador-designate to Turkey.โ€

The selection for Turkey holds particular strategic weight, as โ€œThe posting of Suleiman to Turkey comes as the President is scheduled to begin a state visit to the country next week,โ€ Onanuga added.

The presidential spokesman mentioned that these instructions have been officially sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He stated, โ€œIn a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President urged the ministry to notify the governments of the four countries about the ambassador-designates, in line with established diplomatic procedures.โ€

He concluded by clarifying that โ€œThese postings are part of the ambassadorial nominees confirmed by the Senate in December.โ€
