Tinubu Signs Electoral Bill Into Law

President Bola Tinubu has officially signed the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law.

The President’s assent on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, marks the final step in a legislative journey that saw the National Assembly pass the bill just one day prior.

The signing comes after months of intense deliberations regarding key provisions, including the controversial debate over the real-time electronic transmission of election results and the retention of manual backup options.
