The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced that the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will resume from Monday, May 11, to Friday, July 10, 2026.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission explained that the exercise had been paused on April 17, 2026, “to allow the Commission clean up the register after its publication for claims and objections by registrants.”
INEC is calling on all eligible Nigerians to participate, stressing that “eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during the earlier phases, should seize this opportunity to do so.”
The commission also provided guidance for already registered voters who need to update their information.
It stated that those looking to transfer their voting location, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or fix errors in their personal data should “access the Commission’s dedicated online portal or visit INEC State and Local Government Area offices nationwide.”
Following the registration window, the public will have a chance to review the data. INEC disclosed that, “The Commission will display the Register of Voters for claims and objections from Thursday, 23rd July to Wednesday, 29th July 2026.”
This phase, according to the commission, “provides an important opportunity for citizens to scrutinise the register and assist the Commission in ensuring its accuracy, completeness and credibility.”
Assuring the public of a seamless process, the commission noted that “all necessary arrangements have been concluded for the smooth conduct of the exercise.”
Finally, INEC urged the public to take the process seriously to help build a better electoral system, saying: “We once again appeal to all eligible citizens to present themselves for registration and to play their part in strengthening the foundation of our electoral process.”
