The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has officially declared Sadiya Umar Farouq, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, wanted.
This development follows allegations of “Criminal Conspiracy, Abuse of Office, Diversion of Public Funds.” The agency published the notice on its website this Saturday.
The EFCC described Farouq as a 52-year-old from Zamfara State, noting her last known residence as “EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.”

The statement, released by the Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, called on anyone with knowledge of her location to reach out to the commission.
According to the official EFCC notice, “The public is hereby notified that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy, Abuse of Office, Diversion of Public Funds.”
The commission has instructed the public to provide any helpful details to their offices across Nigeria—including “Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja”—or to call “08093322644” or email “info@efcc.gov.ng.”
Farouq held her ministerial position under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari from “2019 to 2023.”
