Supporters of the Interim National Working Committee (INWC), headed by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, were in a celebratory mood in Abuja on Friday.
They maintained that the details of the Supreme Court’s Certified True Copy (CTC) confirmed their group as the rightful leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A video from Turaki’s office showed a lively scene, with supporters chanting party slogans and offering prayers for his success as they welcomed the INWC chairman.
While Turaki did not give an official media address by Friday night, insiders from his camp argued that the judgment confirms the suspension of national officers Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade, and Umar Bature.
They contend that this effectively nullifies the March 29 national convention and the emergence of Abdulrahman Mohammed as chairman.

However, the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee (NWC) has hit back, strongly rejecting these claims.
National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Haruna Mohammed cast doubt on the authenticity of the CTC being shared online and insisted that, even if valid, the judgment did not suspend Anyanwu or any other leaders.
He further clarified that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues to recognize the Abdulrahman-led structure as the legitimate authority of the PDP.
In a Friday night statement, the Abdulrahman faction accused rivals of twisting the court’s words for political gain.
“Contrary to the misleading narratives being promoted in some sections of the media and political space, the Supreme Court did not suspend Senator Samuel Anyanwu or any member of the party leadership,” the statement clarified.
The group also pointed out that the apex court did not order the PDP Board of Trustees to take control or suggest there was a leadership vacuum.
They accused the opposition of focusing on a minority opinion while ignoring the binding majority decision.
According to their statement, because the Supreme Court dismissed the main appeal, it also declined to hear Anyanwu’s cross-appeal regarding legal representation.
They emphasized that the cross-appeal had nothing to do with officer suspensions or expulsions.
