The former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The official results were announced on Monday by the returning officer for the election, Dr. Sadiq Mohammed, who revealed that the former governor secured a landslide victory by polling a total of 72,349 votes.

Bello comfortably defeated his closest rivals in the race, Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke, who managed to score 315 votes, and Momoh Yusuf Obaro, who finished with 188 votes.

A breakdown of the declared figures across the five local government areas that make up the senatorial district shows that Bello dominated the polls with the following numbers: Adavi recorded 18,341 votes; Ajaokuta brought in 10,298 votes; Ogori accounted for 5,146 votes; Okehi yielded 8,943 votes; while his major stronghold in Okene delivered the highest chunk with 29,621 votes.
