Results Of Senatorial Primary Election Contested By Orji Kalu Emerge

Orji Uzor Kalu, the current Senator for Abia North and former Governor of Abia State, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Abia North in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Mr. Kalu secured the ticket with a landslide win against his sole competitor, Philips Nto.

Based on the official figures released at the APC collation venue in Umuahia, Mr. Kalu scored 65,651 votes to clear Mr. Nto, who managed to get 2,103 votes.

This leaves a gap of 63,548 votes between the two contestants.

The direct primary election was conducted throughout the 57 wards and five local government areas making up Abia North.

The records show that out of 72,028 registered voters, 69,441 were successfully accredited, bringing the total number of votes cast to 67,854.

While announcing the final outcome, Chinedu Kanu, the Chairman of the Abia North Senatorial National Assembly Primary Election Committee, called the voting exercise peaceful, transparent, and credible.

He praised the electoral personnel, party leaders, and APC members for delivering a hitch-free voting process across the entire senatorial district.

The committee chairman added that Senator Kalu enjoyed massive backing from party members during the direct primary setup meant to field credible flagbearers for 2027.
