A top-level presidential team has touched down in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, in the wake of the recent kidnapping of students and teachers from schools located within the Yawota and Esiele communities of Oriire Local Government Area.
Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, is spearheading the team. He is accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Tunde Disu, Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe, and Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications.
The high-ranking officials are slated to tour the struck communities where gunmen carried out coordinated raids on Baptist Nursery and Primary School alongside other spots, taking roughly 46 pupils and teachers away.
The worrisome event unfolded within the Ogbomoso sector of Oyo State, triggering immense worry nationwide.
Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, broke the news through a post shared on X on Sunday.
He noted that President Bola Tinubu has set off a chain of synchronized strategic moves focused on freeing the captives and tracking down the gunmen.
Dare wrote: “A powerful Presidential Delegation just arrived Ogbomoso en route to the villages of Esiele and Yawota where armed men simultaneously raided Baptist Nursery and Primary schools seizing about 46 pupils and teachers.”
He further pointed out that the President instructed security formations to ramp up their search-and-rescue tasks and make sure the attackers face the law.
This high-profile visit takes place as panic deepens among community members and families of the victims, who are constantly calling on the Oyo State and Federal Governments to guarantee the safe return of their loved ones.
While security agencies are currently keeping tight-lipped with no official briefings on where the victims are being held, rescue missions are reportedly active in the area.
