Archbishop Ugorji Honours Comrade Eugene Okonta

The Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, His Grace, Most Rev. Lucious Iwejuru Ugorji has honoured The Chairman Ohanaeze Youth Council Abia State and State Youth Leader Abia Rejoice Movement Comrade Eugene Okonta JP with the award of Star of Catholic Laity owerri Ecclesiastical province .

Delivering a message at the Owerri Archdiocese for the Owerri Ecclesiastical province comprising all the Catholic churches in Imo State, Abia State and Ihiala LGA anambra during the Owerri Provincial Laity Day Celebration and Award presentation, His Grace, Most Rev. Ugorji admonished Christians to live righteously and wholeheartedly in serving God and humanity and cited the parable of the poor woman that gave all she has, while the rich gave a little out their abundant wealth and how Christ emphasized on giving with zeal and obedience, while tasking the Awardees to see the honour as a moral booster in the service of God and humanity.

In his acceptance speech, one of the Awardees and Chairman Ohanaeze Youth Council Abia State Comrade Eugene Okonta JP thanked Arch. Bishop Lucious Ugorji and the entire Catholic Church for finding him worthy to be honored as the Star of Provincial Catholic Laity Council and pledged to serve God and humanity with his experience and resources.

On their goodwill messages, the wife of the governor of Abia State Mrs. Priscilla Otti and former Minister of State for Mines and Steels Development Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah eulogized the sterling qualities of Comrade Okonta while thanking the Catholic Church for encouraging true believers of Christ.

The celebration featured Holy Mass by His Grace, Most Rev. Lucious Ugorji, presentation of award, special prayers for Nigeria and group photographs.
