Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi carried out an unannounced inspection at the State Secretariat on Monday, discovering multiple offices belonging to high-ranking officials securely locked.
As he walked through the complex around 11 a.m., the governor uncovered widespread absenteeism among senior civil service personnel, with security staff and junior messengers making up the few individuals present across several deserted departments.
Footage of the unexpected check quickly spread online, capturing the state leader moving down corridors and checking various ministry doors.
A formal statement released on Tuesday by the governor’s Special Assistant, Garba Muhammad, verified the event, explaining that the tour serves as part of broader efforts to boost administrative efficiency and public sector standards.
Muhammad noted that the evaluation was implemented to monitor worker punctuality, evaluate daily attendance, and enforce workplace productivity.
Furthermore, the aide stressed that the oversight action highlights the current administration’s strict commitment to establishing operational discipline and institutional accountability across the state government workforce.
