A serving senator from an Osun senatorial district has ignited a major political storm following an inflammatory video shared online by renowned Afrobeat artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
In the footage published on social media, complete with an English translation provided by Davido, the lawmaker is allegedly seen speaking in Yoruba and instructing his supporters to target members of the Accord Party.
According to the translated remarks, the senator stated, “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them.”
He further declared that rival supporters would not be allowed to cast their ballots on election day, even if they came prepared with voter cards.
The controversial statements continue with the senator warning against any presence of the party in Ilesa, specifically calling out their yellow caps and reiterating directives for attacks leading up to the polls.
This development surfaces right before voters in Osun State head out to elect a governor, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking a fresh mandate under the platform of the Accord Party.
The alleged remarks have significantly elevated anxieties regarding political intimidation and violence in the region.
